Illustrator Scripts

Sato Hiroyuki has had these Illustrator scripts available for years, but now they’ve got English descriptions. There are some handy little scripts here, including several that improve on similar functions available in the application itself (such as “Round Any Corner” and “Divide”).

The Dance script, however, is by far the best. From the description:

Command-Option-KAPOW

It’s frustrating to get on a machine that lacks your familiar keyboard shortcuts. So, mainly for myself – but also for anyone else who wants ‘em – here are my frequently used sets.

Notes:

  • The tilde (~) in the paths below indicate your home folder. (I love tildes. Mañana! Señor!)

  • There are a couple of paths below that include my language installation (en_GB). I don’t think these exist if you only have one language installed on your machine.

Flash

This file goes in here:

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS4/en/Configuration/Keyboard Shortcuts

Illustrator

Which goes here:

~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings

Photoshop

I’m currently trying out these keyboard shortcuts courtesy of Trevor Morris Photographics; they’re well-thought-out and well-documented.

Otherwise, my old faithful set is here:

Bang it in here:

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Keyboard Shortcuts

InDesign

And these guys live here (approximately – adjust depending on version and language if necessary):

~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 6.0/en_GB/InDesign Shortcut Sets

Final Cut Pro

~/Library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro User Data/Keyboard Layouts

Pause till layer marker

Here’s a handy little expression to stop a nested comp playing till you want it to.
